The European Volunteer Service (EVS) is a programme which allows young Europeans to live and work for an organisation in another country for up to one year. The programme offers both European and non-European volunteers the opportunity to travel to countries both within and outside of the European Union. This programme is financed by the EU’s ‘Youth in Action’ programme.
The Institute of Humanitarian Development is the only certified organisation in Moscow that welcomes volunteers as part of this programme.
The first group of volunteers came in February 2011 to work towards the intercultural development of young Russians. They’ve been organising seminars, training sessions and other events in order to help Russian students become more familiar with European culture.

In addition, the institute sends young people to take part in the European Volunteer Service within the EU (expenses covered by the programme include return flights, food and accommodation, as well as a small monthly allowance).
